Finkelstein Arrested in Palestine by the Zionists

Last week Norman Finkelstein spoke at the congress of IUPFP in Brussels upon my invitation and I had the opportunity to have some interesting talks with him. He is not really what you could call an anti-Zionist, and his Jewish background is probably still playing a role in not letting him be consistent on dismantling the Zionist State and giving back the land to its original owners the Palestinian Arabs, but one thing is sure, he is a man with a very awaken consciousness and sense of justice and he has integrity in his struggle against the crimes of Zionism and its state.

He counts himself to our camp and he always talks in terms like  ” we can win” and ” we have no reason to be defeatist” but then he stops short of going all the way and saying what we believe is true and that is ” we have no reason to believe that we can not liberate the whole of Palestine”. In order to avoid answering whether he is for one or two states solution, he answers that a state is not the solution, a point well taken.

We disagree about a lot of things with him but he is a great thinker and sharp talker, and as long as we keep the lucidity to go farther than he goes and the historical perspective to believe in the possibility of our final victory against Zionism, Finkelstein is an ally and a good one. On top of that he is a very nice guy with a very sharp sense of humour and a lot of interest in what people have to tell him.

Today Norman Finkelstein was arrested by the Zionists while trying to enter Palestine, he is denied entry and he will be deported. Clearly Zionism is against even Jewish dissident opinion. When Norman is deported he will be even more so one of us, another person that is kept out of Palestine by the Zionists. Maybe that can help him shift his perspectives on the final outcome of this conflict and on its existential nature.

  1. Edith Legrand Says:

    Dear Mr. Finkelstein,

I consider it a great honour for me to have had the opportunity to listen to you live. I admire your opinion on the problems in the Middle East. In my opinion the people of the Jewish far right are there own worst enemy.
