Freedom of speech even for the racist Wilders
I totally dislike wilders ( he is a nut head Zionist racist pig) and I disagree with everything he says But I am totally in solidarity with his right to say whatever he says without persecution. Stop the Inquisition, Freedom Of speech always and everywhere!!!!!
Dutch Anti-Islam Lawmaker Loses Bid To Stop Hate Speech Trial
THE HAGUE (AFP)–Far-right Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders lost a legal bid Wednesday to stop his pending trial for inciting hatred and discrimination against Muslims.
"The attorney general is of the opinion that there are no grounds" for a further appeal, the Dutch Supreme Court said in a statement.
Lawyers for Wilders had sought to overturn a ruling by the Amsterdam Court of Appeals in January that he should be prosecuted for a series of public anti- Muslim statements, particularly for comparing Islam to Nazism.
"It is a political process," Wilders responded in a statement on the Web site of his Freedom Party, or PVV, which has nine out of 150 seats in parliament.
"I am being prosecuted for saying about Islam what millions of Dutch think. Freedom of expression is at risk of being offered at the altar of Islam."
The January appeals court judgment had followed numerous complaints from citizens over the Public Prosecution Service’s initial refusal to press charges against Wilders.
Wilders is the maker of a 17-minute film, "Fitna," which has been called " offensively anti-Islamic" by U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
The screening of the film in the Netherlands last year prompted protests in much of the Muslim world, including Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iran and Pakistan.
Wilders has called for the banning of the Koran in the Netherlands, calling it "fascist."
In June last year, the prosecutor’s office said "Fitna," though offensive to Muslims, didn’t give rise to a punishable offense.
It dismissed dozens of complaints received from around the country, saying Wilders’ utterances were made in the context of public debate.
But the appeals court ruled six months later that politicians, given their special responsibility, ought not to be permitted to make "statements which create hate and grief," and ordered the prosecution to put Wilders on trial.

Niet akkoord. Wilders misbruikt de vrijheid van menigsuiting om moslimhaat te propageren. Het is strafbaar om iemand in het publiek te vernederen (wat ik heel normaal vind, stel je even voor dat een gehandicapte door een groep idioten wordt vernederd), maar als een moslim slachtoffer wordt van die vernederingen, dan begint men over “freedom of speech” om het te kunnen legitimeren. Er zijn grenzen aan die vrijheid: respect!

should I then also respect wilders and other racist pigs? no thanks, I want to disrespect them and their ideology and express it and I accept their right to do the same to me. Respect is a very subjective concept, it is one of those essentially contested concepts and therefor it cannot be taken as a defining criteria for anything and certainly not freedom of speech.

Met respect bedoel ik dat je uit respect bepaalde kwetsende uitspraken niet kan doen. Het criterium is daarom niet “respect”, maar “kwetsende uitspraken”, maar ik geef toe dat de lijn nog steeds heel moeilijk te trekken is. Bovendien kan de beslissing om iets als kwetsend (of niet) te bevinden vrij arbitrair verlopen, maar dat wil voor mij nog altijd niet zeggen dat een absolute vrijheid van meningsuiting beter is (er bestaat trouwens ook niet zoeits als een onbeperkte vrijheid van handelen). We willen ook niet in een vorm van relativisme vervallen waarin iedereen gelijk heeft en alle meningen gelijk zijn aan elkaar. Een “hate speech” kan toch moeilijk gelijk gesteld worden aan “vredesspeech”? Vrijheid, gelijkheid, etc… dat zijn ook mijn idealen, maar ik vind niet dat we uit vrees voor onderdrukking alles moeten gaan tolereren. Inderdaad, er schuilt een zeker gevaar in censuur, maar die haatpropaganda is ook heel gevaarlijk geworden.
Ik begrijp (en respecteer ;D) uw standpunt, maar het is voor mij een beetje te veel “alles of niets”.

Als we nou mensen hadden als jou Abou Jahjah die goed en stellig verweer tegen hem konden bieden, zou het publieke debat nog bevredigend zijn voor Moslims, en zouden we ook lak hebben aan een vervolging. Maar dat is helaas niet het geval. Je bent nog steeds een enorm gemis, Abou. Jammer dat je ons hebt verlaten uit Nederland.

Freedom of speech stops where it starts insulting others. This has nothing to do with freedom of speech. Face it, the idea is to stop Islam from growing in Europe and pigs like Wilders try to do it by scaring the people. This is the new crusade era. Ask yourself the following question and try to answer this without prejudice. Why is any critic against the Zionist Entity an act of anti semitism (for which you could be arrested and thrown into jail) and insults against the Islamic religion a way of expressing ones right of freedom of speech. Let me tell you this, if you value insulting others for being or thinking different than you can keep your freedom of speech to yourself.
