Books written on Dyab Abou Jahjah 1- Mohammed Benzakour : Abou Jahjah, nieuwlichter of oplichter? De demonisering van een politiek rebel , Uitgeverij L.J. Amsterdam, 2004 (in Dutch) “ Abou Jahjah, a visionary or a fraud? The demonisation of a political rebel” Mohamed Benzakour is one of Holland’s best journalists and in this book he analyses the political thought of Dyab Abou Jahjah and the history of the Arab European League. The book gives extra attention to the way the Media reported on the AEL and the mechanisms of defamation and demonisation involved. After the book was published, Benzakour Himself became the target of a smear campaign, but this did not prevent him from winning the prize of best Dutch journalistic writer. 2- Ludo De Witte, Wie is bang voor Moslims? aantekeningen over Abou Jahjah, etnocentrisme en islamofobie, Bulaaq, Uitgeverij, 2004, Brussels (in Dutch) “ Who is afraid of Muslims? Notes on Abou Jahjah, Ethnocentrisme and Islamophobia” As the author of the internationally acclaimed book “ the assassination of Lumumba” Ludo De Witte is the most internationally known Belgian writer. In this book De Witte approaches the issue of racism and Islamophobia in the west in general and Belgium in particular. He analyses the Ideas of Dyab Abou Jahjah and considers them to be the basis of a new form of nationhood in Europe. A new nationality is being born out of the seeds of Arab and Muslim immigration, and according to De Witte, The AEL is its first manifestation and Abou Jahjah its ideologue. He doesn’t hide his sympathy with the AEL and Abou Jahjah as he considers their ideas to be progressive and emancipating in essence.
3- Maroun Labaki, Abou Jahjah, l’erreur, Bruxelles, Editions Luc Pire, 2003 (in French) « Abou Jahjah, the Mistake » In this Book, Maroun Labaki, who is a Belgian journalist of Lebanese origin, analyzed the Ideas of Abou Jahjah to conclude that the attacks against him by the western media are a major mistake and that there is nothing threatening about him. instead of attacking him, Labaki argues, Europe must listen to what he is saying. Despite being very critical towards what he considers to be “communautarisme” within the ideology of the AEL, he claims that it is the reflection of the Flemish context within which the Movement was born.
