AEL faces inquisition on Monday

January 24th, 2010

On the 25th of this month, AEL has to appear in front of a Dutch court because of our cartoon campaign launched back in 2006. Double standards and hypocrisy prevail when it comes to freedom of speech and freedom of artistic expression of Muslims and ethnic minorities. The only difference or uniqueness of this case is that we can not lose, even if we are sentenced.

Is Robert Fisk suffering from the Bernard Lewis syndrome?

December 13th, 2009

by Yassine Channouf

Twice I met him, and as many times he delighted me. I can credit Robert Fisk with getting me interested in Lebanon. I have always read his books and articles passionately, and those who know me grew weary of my continuous references to him. But no more. The Fisk I admired is no longer the Fisk that the world knows today. His last article in which he equates Hezbollah, the Lebanese Resistance, with a bunch of anti-Semites is the figurative drop. The reason for this outrageous accusation? Hezbollah’s opposition to the teaching of the Anne Frank diary in the schools in the south of Lebanon. Robert Fisk has lived in Lebanon for more than 30 years, and most importantly throughout the savage period of the civil war. It is, nor should it be a secret that Robert Fisk is one of the best western journalists dealing with the Middle East, but that should not impede us from criticizing him on certain critical issues.

To hell with Robert Fisk

December 5th, 2009

Fisk is criticizing Hezbollah and calling it anti Semitic for objecting to the teaching of Anne Frank Diaries in Lebanese schools. we don’t need to read the Jewish sufferings here, we have enough suffering at the hand of the Jews to deal with. How popular would a book on German sufferings under French rule have been in the Warsaw ghetto under Nazi occupation?

On the latest Egypt-Algeria Match

November 20th, 2009

The Moubarak regime wanted to use a victory of Egypt in the process Of grooming Gamal Moubarak to inherit his daddy. Now that they lost they have to play victims. There have been some hooliganism from both sides in Sudan, this is normal in Derby matches. among 10 000 Egyptian supporters 21 were slightly injured. The regime is trying to make that look like a war instigated against Egypt so that everybody rallies behind the flag and hence behind Moubarak and his thieves. Since Sadat Egypt became a petty country with many petty minded people that are brainwashed and supportive of the regime. They cannot deal with the fact that the glory of the Arabs lays elsewhere nowadays, namely where people still resist and still have pride. They can’t show anything as progress as poverty, corruption analphabetism and reactionary thinking are paramount, so they resort to football. And when the lose there too. they resort to self-lamentation and victimization. Pathetic regime.
